Polarity of an RNA helix is a thermodynamic property that can be correlated with the thermodynamic stability of the helix and can be revealed by temperature-dependent equilibrium experiments. In the present study, we have used the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to demonstrate that substrate can alter the thermodynamic stability of the helix and can induce a conformational transition in RNA helix 5. A DSC thermogram reveals the transition as a two-state process. The observed thermograms can be interpreted in terms of the interconversion of the native A-form structure and a non-native G-form structure. The observation of a substrate-induced conformational transition in helix 5 reveals a thermodynamic basis for the substrate-induced stabilization of the native A-form helix.“There is much talk at the moment about austerity and debt. Anti-Muslim group Britain First says it plans to march through the streets of Luton today in a protest against sharia law.
The group is planning to hold its 'Safra Parade' through the town's main shopping streets, in what is being called a 'Bike rodeo' against Islam.
The demonstration comes as the group vowed to “not be intimidated” by being barred from holding a rally in Luton last month.
Britain First leader Paul Golding called on the group to make Luton “the centre of the jihad” by taking over the town centre with its planned Safra Parade.
He said: “We are not going to be intimidated by these left-wing politicians. If we are barred from speaking in Luton, then we will go somewhere else and start saying things.
“We will be there and I have no doubt we will have a very large crowd, which is why we are calling it a ‘bike rodeo’.”
